What have the Romans done for us? – December 2014

  • Place:- Newarke Houses Museum, Leicester
  • Dates of site:– Romans
  • Website:-  BBC Romans Resource

In December we started to think about the upcoming Christmas holidays, and time for our Christmas party.

Mathew and Jed talked to us about the Romans, their beliefs and forms of worship.  We looked at evidence of worship found in Leicester and discovered how Romans used curse tablets as a way of communing with the Gods.  We even had a try at making our own curse tablets, follow this link to try for yourself – Leicester Roman Curse Tablets.

In the spirit of the Roman Festival of Satrunalia, everyone looked fantastic in their best Roman costumes.  Before we tucked into the banquet, we played funs games such as Human Monuments and Prehistoric, Roman or Medieval, and attempted a Saturnalia quiz (For those of you who were unable to make this meeting, here is the the quiz complete with answers – LYAC saturnalia quiz & answers)
