Richard III Visitors Centre – March 2015

In March we started to think about the upcoming reinterment of Richard III bones at Leicester Cathedral.

Mathew and Debbie talked to us about the discovery of the last medieval King.  We then has the opportunity to spend the morning at this great venue.  We looked at the life of Richards life, what type of king he was and the events leading up to his death at the Battle of Bosworth.  We then found out more about the excavations of the Greyfriars in which he was discovered, the science behind the identification of his remains and even what he looked like.

This was a great meeting, returning to the site of the original excavations that we visited first in 2012, and again in 2013.  We got to see how all the work by the teams from the University of Leicester and the Looking for Richard Project has come together to bring about a historical discovery for us all to experience.
