I am sure you will all be aware of the dig last year to unearth the friary of the Grey Friars in Leicester, along with the location of the last resting place of Richard III. This year the team have returned to the site to further investigate what is left of the 13th century Franciscan Friary and I have volunteered to help excavate at the site. When I was completing my degree over ten years ago (a long time ago!) this site was part of my final research project, so when I heard about the discovery of the remains I was really excited to see what had been found and was hopeful to excavate on the site. This year I have been given that opportunity and wanted to share my experiences with you in this daily diary:
