Charnwood Roots is a Leicestershire Victoria County History Trust initiative, part of a national research project to research and write a reference history of every town, village and hamlet in England. The Charnwood Roots project uses research and educational activities to increase local understanding of why Charnwood’s history is special. One of the aims of the project is to involve as many people as possible (of all ages) in researching and learning about the history of Charnwood Forest and Loughborough.
In 2014, Leicestershire YAC were kindly given the opportunity to help with this project at the community dig in Anstey. The group opened two test pits over Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July, follow the link for more information about what our YAC’s discovered at Anstey’s Big Dig!
It is our hope that this is the beginning of further collaborative work with the project, keep an eye on this page for future updates on what we have done to contribute to this initiative.
