Excavating at Burrough Hill – June 2014, July 2013, June 2012 & June 2011

The Burrough Hill Event excavation was a great afternoon. After a look at some of the star finds so far we looked round the two trenches to see the Early Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman features found – round houses, pits and ditches, including what may be only the second 4000 year old house found in Leicestershire. We then got down to some excavation. It was very hot but everyone found things – animal bones, Iron Age and Roman pottery and some flint (and a few fossils!). A good afternoon’s work!

During the dig, the YAC members found Iron Age Pottery and animal bones.
