Mick Aston

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Professor Mick Aston.

Mick was a keen supporter of YAC and had visited the Leicestershire YAC branch regularly.  We have been lucky enough to see him at work on a number of Time Team projects in Leicestershire.

There is a tribute to Mick on the CBA website today, in his memory the council is publishing the full seven-year series of his ‘Mick’s Travels’ articles from British Archaeology on the website, where everyone can access them all for free. http://new.archaeologyuk.org/news/mick-aston-1946-2013

If you have any YAC memories of Mick that you’d like to share, YAC are planning a tribute piece to him in the September issue of Young Archaeologist. Please email any photos or comments to Nicky nickymilsted@archaeologyuk.org.

I’m sure we would all like to thank Mick for his inspirational contribution to Archaeology and pass our condolences to his family and friends.

Rest in peace.
